How to Apply

An application consists of:

  1. The completed application cover form

  2. A project description – one A4 sheet

  3. A detailed budget - one A4 sheet

  4. A brief CV – one A4 sheet

  5. Up to 4 jpeg images at 72-120 dpi.

Documents 1-4 must be presented in either Word or PDF formats and not in any other format.

Your case for funding must be entirely contained in these 5 components. This is the only information upon which an application will be judged. Guidance on preparing each component is provided below.

Completing the application cover form

You must complete all the boxes.

The 50 word summary should clearly and accurately summarise in simple language what you will have explained more fully in the Project Description. It is in your interest to do this well, since this snapshot is what the Foundation will use (should you be successful) to portray your project to wider audiences on our website and elsewhere.

Preparing a project description

The Project Description is the opportunity to set out in your own words everything you want the Foundation to know about your project. It should include information on what you plan to do, why you want to do it, when and how you will undertake it, who will take part, what you expect it to achieve (for you, for others and/or the public at large) and why you think the Foundation should fund it.

If your project is part of a wider programme of activities, or a phase in a wider project, please include an explanation of this, so we can appreciate the context. Any project the Foundation funds must take place in the UK.

Your project description should equate to an A4 sheet of formatted text of legibly sized type – a text around 400-500 words in length.

You may include up to 2 links to examples of your work online in the project description.

Compiling a budget

The Foundation requires you to provide a detailed breakdown of all the costs included in the project, giving actual costs whenever you can, and indicating if any costs have had to be estimated.

Please note that you cannot include an artist’s fee for time you spend on the project as part of your request for grant, although you may choose to include it in the budget as in-kind contribution.

If your project is part of a wider programme of activities, or a phase in a wider project, please make sure the budget you provide is for the project you want the Foundation to fund.

Your budget should be set out clearly and concisely in a tabular format and fit onto a sheet of A4 if printed.

Providing a CV

The CV you submit with this application must be presented in legibly-sized type to fit on a single sheet of A4 if printed. For some applicants this might require summarising some details to focus on the key information.

For partnership projects or projects with group implementation, please only submit the CV of the lead applicant and provide information about other participants in the project description.

If you have a website and or social media pages, please include links to them in your CV.

Including up to 4 jpeg images

The Foundation needs to be able to share your images internally to assess your application, so please ensure they are correctly sized to 72- 120 dpi.

Please supply only four images, as requested. Each image must include your name, a caption, details of the project and the year it was taken.
